Business loan marketplaces compared: Lendio, Fundera, Nav, LendingTree, Biz2Credit and TopFunders.ai
Facts about each service were checked on its own website on September 19, 2026. Sources are listed at the end of this page.
Disclosure: TopFunders.ai, operated by Funding Holdings LTD, runs this page and is one of the services compared on it. Fundera is also a funding partner in our network. We have described every service, including our own, by what it says on its own site. Where a service does not publish something, the table says "not published" rather than guess.
The short answer
Business loan marketplaces work in one of two ways. Some show you several offers from every lender on their list. Others match you first and introduce you only to the partners ready to make your business an offer. A third kind of service is the direct online lender, which makes the loan itself.
- If you want to see several offers and compare them yourself, a multiple-offer marketplace such as Lendio, Fundera or LendingTree is built for that. Lendio and Fundera also assign a person to walk you through your options.
- If you want offers only from partners that fund businesses like yours, TopFunders.ai is built for that. The trade-off is plain: you see what your matched partners offer, not the whole market, so compare the terms before you sign.
- If your priority is building business credit before you borrow, Nav is built around credit monitoring, with funding matches alongside.
- If you already meet a lender's stated minimums and want to deal with the lender directly, a direct lender such as Biz2Credit is the simplest path. It is included here for contrast: it is a lender, not a marketplace.

How each service works
Lendio
Lendio runs a marketplace and says it "does not make loans directly". Its how-it-works page says it will "present your application to our network of 75+ lenders", and its homepage says it works with "more than 100 lenders and funders". A dedicated funding expert asks about your needs and walks you through loan options, and you compare offers. Lendio says applying "will not impact your personal credit score", and that accepting a funding offer "may result in a hard credit inquiry", depending on the product and lender. It says compensation "may be received from lenders for referrals or funded loans, which may impact the placement of financing offers."
Best suited to: owners who want several offers and a person to guide them.
Fundera
Fundera, whose site now carries the NerdWallet name, runs a marketplace with a person attached. You fill out one application, a Funding Advisor contacts you, and the advisor helps you compare multiple offers. Fundera says it is free to compare, and that "we get a percentage from the financial provider once you're funded." Fundera is also a funding partner in our network.
Best suited to: owners who want several offers and an advisor to compare them with.
Nav
Nav is built around business credit. Its homepage describes credit monitoring, action plans, and "matches to funding you may qualify for". There is a free plan with one personal credit score, and paid plans from $39.99 to $74.99 a month that add business credit scores and reports. Nav says checking your own credit through it uses soft pulls. For financing, Nav says loans and lines of credit are made available by Fundbox or its bank partners, and that an application is still required before funds are disbursed.
Best suited to: owners who want to understand and build their business credit, with funding options alongside.
LendingTree
LendingTree runs a marketplace. You fill out a short form, then "review potential offers and apply directly with a lender", or work with an account manager. Its disclosure says it "arranges for multiple conditional loan offers through its network of nonaffiliated lenders", that it "does not charge consumers for its services", and that it "receives compensation from lenders and other providers", which may affect the order in which listings appear. It does not publish a lender count or minimums on that page.
Best suited to: owners who want several offers to compare.
Biz2Credit (direct lender, for contrast)
Biz2Credit lends directly rather than running a marketplace. Its site says its term loans are made by Itria Ventures LLC or Cross River Bank, and that the term loan "requires FICO of 650 and $100,000 in revenue". Its process is five steps: create an account and prequalify, submit an application with bank statements, get matched to one of its financing products, receive a funding offer, and get funded.
Best suited to: owners who already meet its stated minimums and want to deal with the lender directly.
TopFunders.ai
TopFunders.ai is not a lender and not a loan broker. You answer a few questions about your business, which takes about two minutes, and we introduce you to the funding partners ready to make you an offer, from a network of 30+ vetted partners. Vetted partners in the network may review your details. Which partners you are put in front of is decided using real approvals from businesses like yours.
Getting matched does not affect your credit. We never ask for your Social Security number, Tax ID, bank statements or documents to match you. We are paid by the partners in our network, and the service is free for you. If none of the partners is right, you can always ask us to look again.
The trade-off: you see what your matched partners offer, not the whole market. We do not compare rates across partners for you, so compare the terms before you sign. A match is not an approval: each partner makes its own decision.
Best suited to: owners who want offers from partners that fund businesses like theirs, without applying to every lender on a list.
Which model fits you
Choose a multiple-offer marketplace if you want to compare rates and terms side by side, and you have time to review several offers.
Choose a matched-partner service if you would rather hear from partners that already fund businesses like yours than from every lender on a list. You give up the whole-market view. Ask each partner for the full cost in writing, and check it against what you know about typical rates for your loan type before you sign.
Choose a credit-first platform if you are not ready to borrow yet, or you expect your credit to be the thing holding you back, and you want to work on it before you apply.
Choose a direct lender if you already meet its published minimums and want one company to handle the whole loan, from application to funding.
Whichever you pick, three questions apply everywhere:
- What is the total cost? Ask for the full repayment amount, not just a rate or a factor.
- What happens to my credit, and when? Many services do not check your credit at the first step, but a lender usually does before it funds you.
- Who pays the service? If a service is free to you, a lender or partner is paying it. That is normal, and it is worth knowing.
How we compared
- Sources. Every fact about another service comes from that service's own website, checked on September 19, 2026. We did not use review sites or third-party articles as a source for any service.
- Fields. We compared eight things a business owner asks about before applying: the model, the stated lender or partner count, products, stated minimums, whether there is a credit inquiry at the first step, what you see, who pays the service, and documents.
- Not published means not published. If a service's site does not state something, the table says so. We did not fill gaps from memory or from other sites. Where a service's own pages give different figures, we show both.
- Models, not quality. We describe how each service works. We do not rate or rank them, and we make no claims about how any lender or partner behaves.
- Our own row follows the same rules, and uses the same wording as the rest of our site.
- Relationships. Fundera is a funding partner in our network. We describe it by its own site, the same way as everyone else.
- Changes. These services update their sites. If something here is out of date, tell us and we will check it and correct it.
Frequently asked questions
What is a business loan marketplace?
A service that connects business owners with lenders instead of lending itself. Some send you to every lender on their list. Others match you first and introduce you only to the partners ready to make you an offer.
Is it better to get several offers or to be matched first?
It depends on what you value. Going out to every lender gives you the widest set of offers, and the most calls, including from lenders that were never going to fund you. Being matched first means you hear from partners that fund businesses like yours, and you compare what they offer rather than the whole market. Either way, compare the terms before you sign.
Do business loan marketplaces check my credit?
Practices differ, and not every service publishes its policy. Check each service's own site. At TopFunders.ai, checking your options doesn't affect your credit. The lender you end up applying with will usually check your credit before it funds you.
How do free loan marketplaces make money?
Usually from the lenders or partners they work with. The "who pays" row above quotes what each service says. TopFunders.ai is paid by the partners in our network.
Is TopFunders.ai a lender?
No. TopFunders.ai is not a lender and not a loan broker. The partner you are matched with makes every credit decision.
How does TopFunders.ai decide which partner I am matched with?
We track which partners approve and fund which kinds of business, from the businesses we have already introduced. We use that to decide which partners we match businesses like yours with. Those results stay private, and a match is not an approval: the partner makes its own decision.
Why is this page on the TopFunders.ai website?
Because people ask us how we compare. We run this page, we are one of the services on it, and Fundera is a partner in our network, so we have kept to facts each service publishes about itself and linked every source.
